2021.09.18 22:24 2021Loterati I want to be wrong about Vroom but I don't think it's for me.
I used to do a tech support job, which I hated (don't ever do it.) and all day long I would hear nothing but complaints. 30- 40 customers a day telling me how our products were just junk and how they regretted buying it. And there were some issues you would hear over and over. This particular product gets this same error all the time. I'm tired of walking the customers through clearing the same error. do we not have enough cases logged in our system for the engineering team to tweek the design to prevent this? Why do we keep building it this way when it keeps breaking?
And one time a product manager showed me the actual numbers. It seems like a lot when I'm getting 2 or 3 of the same problem everyday. 5days a week x 50 weeks a year. That's 500-750 instances, and there were 3 other agents. So more than 2000 of these happening per year. Felt like I was just banging my head against a wall. But in reality, we actually sold 12 million of this particular product this year alone and that's just in the US. So no, the engineering team is not going to tweek anything when 99.999% are just fine.
The people who love the product don't call. The ones who find it convenient and practical and fun and intuitive don't call. The ones who are smart enough to troubleshoot on their own don't call. The ones who can google it or read the manual don't call. The kind of person you might actually enjoy talking to is not going to call. I never once in 5 years received a call just to tell me the product worked as it was supposed to or better. Only the people with the worst luck, the dumbest, and the ones who complain the most are going to call. It sounds mean but it's just a fact. The most depressing, and angriest ones who are on the far negative end of experiences are the only voices I ever heard.
That's sort of how I look at reviews too. I can't imagine myself buying a car from vroom, and getting exactly what i expected and then making a post here where I just give them free advertising. If I pay for something, they are supposed to give me that thing. Good service, and being on time, and accurate is the bare minimum that any company is supposed to do when you buy something from them. That's what the money is for. I don't owe them a positive review. I don't get anything out of that.
For the most part people write these reviews out of frustration. Either to vent, or look for help, or maybe for revenge. So I don't know what to make of all the negative reviews on this sub. But I'll say it was enough to prevent me from buying a car today. They have a 2016 Lexus IS350 F sport with 75K miles listed for 24,500. That's an awesome price. and it's the right color combo too. It's hard to find the cars with light interiors. If I trusted this company I would have bought the car hours ago. If I had faith that I could click a few buttons and it would arrive at my doorstep in 2 weeks, I would have bought it already. But I really just can't take the risk. It's a shame. Maybe in a few years the infrastructure will be there. clearly that is the direction every industry is heading. Maybe people with pickup trucks can work for a company like uber where they just tow stuff on demand and they can use that to get the car to you faster. I don't know. Maybe that already exists.
for now it's still too shady. I'm already stressed out enough because I lost my car, and I am still trying to get my money from the insurance company. I can not put myself in yet another situation with a potential for high stress when there are alternatives. ie, going to a local dealer.

So I had my rackets restrung and when I was playing today the whole string bed just feels dead. There’s a very tiny sweet spot in the middle but off that by half an inch and it feels like I’m hitting the frame even though I’m not. Any ideas why this would happen? Do they just need broken in a bit?

2021.09.18 22:24 Grey_Matter_121 Clutch Pull Relief installed today
What a difference! After getting everything adjusted so the friction zone is where I want it I'm very glad I made this purchase. I have a lot better fine control of the clutch, not only because it's easier to pull, but because the amount of travel in the clutch lever increased a bit with the longer arm and added leverage. Before the friction zone was very small and just a small slip could cause the bike to jerk forward.
Highly recommend for anyone who does any stop and go traffic riding like I do when I ride into NYC.
